Vol. 256 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers (Resumed). - Use of Native Timber.

229.

asked the Minister for Local Government how much (a) native timber and (b) imported timber is used for building purposes; and whether system building involves the use of a higher proportion of non-native timber for house building as compared with traditional building methods.

The information requested in the first part of the question is not available. The extent of non-native timber used in system building varies according to the particular system involved. Some systems use less imported timber than is used in a traditional type house of equivalent floor area and other systems use as much or more.
