Vol. 256 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Educational Reform.

38.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the very strong criticisms of the system of education made by Dr. Edward M. Walsh, Director, Limerick Institute for Higher Education, in a paper read to the European Teachers' Conference on 16th October, 1971; and if the Government intends to introduce the necessary reforms in the areas referred to by Dr. Walsh.

Education is a topic of much discussion in Ireland to-day. I do not feel bound to comment on every viewpoint put forward by individuals. I am sure the Deputy will accept that because even the Deputy makes statements on education at times.

Does the Minister not feel bound to comment when serious representations are made in public by the Protestant authorities here in Dublin?

I do not see how that arises on this particular question.
