Vol. 256 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tyre Imports.

1.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the amount and value of motor and bicycle tyres imported into the Republic of Ireland for the years 1969 and 1970.

Imports of tyres for motor and other vehicles—including bicycles—in the year 1969, amounted to 612,570 tyres, valued at £1,958,614 and in the year 1970, 733,472 tyres valued at £2,378,492.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary say whether this increase has been continued over the past five years?

The figures at my disposal do not indicate an answer to the information sought in the Deputy's query. My information is that there is another question—No. 108—on the Order Paper. The Minister for Industry and Commerce will be giving an answer to that question and he may be in a position to give the figures sought by the Deputy.

We will not get to Question 108 until 6 p.m. at least.

If the Deputy waits until 6 p.m. he will get the information he requires.

As a result of circumstances elsewhere we may not get to 6 p.m.
