Vol. 256 No. 9

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 24, 25, 26 and 27. It is proposed to interrupt business between 6 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. to take No. 27 to which Standing Order No. 87 shall apply. Questions at 3 p.m.

I have received the following note from your secretary:

The Ceann Comhairle has ruled your question out of order on the Adjournment because of the ministerial attitude.

(Interruptions.)

This is not in order. The Deputy may not raise the matter in this way.

(Interruptions.)

On a point of order, it is out of order to shout down a speaker.

(Interruptions.)

It is also out of order for a speaker to continue in this way. The matter is not in order and cannot be raised in this way.

On a point of order the matter would seem to be one——

The Deputy is long enough in the House to know that this is not the proper way to raise this matter.

This is another new law in this House under your direction.

Will the Ceann Comhairle explain what "ministerial functions" means?

When a Minister has no function in a matter it cannot be raised on the Adjournment.

A Deputy

He does not want this raised.

(Interruptions.)

This question was originally addressed to the Taoiseach and passed on by him to the Minister.

(Interruptions.)

Deputy P. Belton seems to know what it is all about.

I know what it is all about.
