asked the Minister for Education if he has received submissions from the Union of Students of Ireland concerning the current system of student grants to those attending colleges of higher education; and if it is the intention of the Government as a matter of urgency to increase substantially the level of grants payable and to introduce a comprehensive grants scheme with particular reference to the inclusion of colleges of technology and similar institutions within such a scheme and a division of the grants system into that of fee and maintenance elements to ensure a more effective system.
