66.
asked the Minister for Finance if there are any sites in the ownership of the Board of Works in County Meath which are derelict or otherwise not being used for some purpose.
The answer is "No".
67.
asked the Minister for Finance if the Board of Works are at present negotiating the purchase of any sites or lands in County Meath or if they have any plans in general for the acquisition of sites in particular areas; and if so, the purpose of the proposed acquisitions.
The answer to the first part of the question is, no. With regard to the second part, acquisition proceedings in respect of portion of the Hill of Tara are the subject of pending court proceedings, and a search is being made for a site for the erection of a new Garda station at Ashbourne.
68.
asked the Minister for Finance if the Board of Works are at present negotiating the sale of, or have the intention of selling, any of the sites or lands in their ownership in County Meath; and, if so, the reason for the proposed sale or sales.
Apart from the possible transfer of a plot of ground at Dunshaughlin Garda station to the Meath County Council for the erection of a fire station the disposal of any property in the ownership of the Commissioners of Public Works in County Meath is not contemplated at present.
Could the Minister say how the sale price is fixed in cases like this?
In regard to selling to a local authority or an approved body, it is a matter for negotiation. The Commissioners' valuer puts a value on the site and negotiations are entered into. Once agreement is reached between the two bodies it must go to the Minister for Finance for final sanction.
