The duty content of a gallon of petrol, premium grade or otherwise, is 20.75p if the petrol is refined in the State or in the United Kingdom and 21.17p if refined elsewhere. Turnover tax is also payable at the rate of 5 per cent on receipts from retail sales of petrol.
