Vol. 259 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Industrial Projects.

42.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the number of firms which have indicated their intention of establishing industries in this country in the event of entry to the EEC; and if he will give a breakdown of the types of industries concerned.

I am informed that the Industrial Development Authority have received general intimations, from time to time, from industrialists that they would be interested in Ireland as a location for new enterprises in the event of our accession to the EEC. They have, however, no precise information of the kind sought by the Deputy.

That is to be taken cum grano salis.

No, we are the perfect location for the establishment of industries once we accede, by the will of the people, to the EEC. There is a logical location in a market of 255 million people.
