Vol. 261 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Regional Hospital.

10.

andMr. Creed asked the Minister for Health the number of tenders received by his Department for the building of the new regional hospital in Cork; and when sanction of the successful tender is expected.

Tenders for the building of the new regional hospital in Cork will be submitted by contractors to the Cork Hospitals Board and not to my Department.

I understand that the board expect to have the tenders before the end of July. It will be necessary for the board to have the tenders examined in detail before coming to any conclusions in the matter and before making a submission to my Department. If the result of tendering is in accord with expectations and no major unforeseen difficulties arise, it is possible that a final decision on the acceptance of tenders will be taken by the end of September.
