Vol. 262 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - EEC Commission Proposal.

36.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he has received a copy of the EEC Commission proposal that member States abolish all aids to specific investments to increase production of vegetables, non-edible horticultural products and goods processed therefrom, beet and sugar; if he will state the existing Irish aids which would be affected by this proposal; and if he has presented his views on the subject to the Commission.

My Department is at present examining the commission's proposal in this matter and its implications for our agricultural aids.

It is, of course, a function of the commission to examine aids in member States, in which connection member States are given the opportunity of presenting their views.

Could the Minister state roughly what proportion of our aids to horticulture are in the form of aids to specific investments?

I do not think there are any.
