Vol. 262 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Monaghan Post Office.

184.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if it is proposed to provide a further post office in Monaghan town to serve the new housing estate at Killygoan.

The provision of a sub-post office at Killygoan would not be justified.

Is the Minister aware that there is only one small post office serving the town and that the new housing scheme will cater for a vast extension in the population? This scheme is a considerable distance from the existing post office and the urban council and other bodies have been agitating for this extra post office and does the Minister not think one should be established there?

I am satisfied that the existing post office in Monaghan is more than adequate to cater for the Killygoan district.
