Vol. 263 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Monaghan Industry.

31.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether there are any proposals for the establishment of industry in County Monaghan; and if he will give details of any such proposals.

I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that one grant-aided expansion project is under construction in the county; four small industry projects have been approved for grant assistance during the past six months, and a further six projects are being considered for grant assistance under the small industry grants scheme.

As part of the interim advance factory programme, the authority propose to build an advance factory in Monaghan town.

How much money is being put into this grant-aided industry which the Minister mentioned at the beginning of his answer?

It is not normal to disclose the amount of money at a given time. When a grant has been specifically allocated the accounting for it is disclosed in the annual report of the Industrial Development Authority.

This is just not good enough. I have not asked the Minister the name of the firm. I want to know the amount of money allocated to this grant-aided industry.

If we are talking of one grant-aided industry in a given county, there is no trouble about identifying the industry in the event of the amount of money being disclosed.

That may well be so, but the Minister mentioned various other things as well.
