asked the Taoiseach if there are any further plans for decentralisation of the headquarters of State and semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department; if so, if he will bear in mind the facilities to be offered in Mullingar and Longford; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative.

There are no plans for the decentralisation of the headquarters of any semi-State body under the aegis of my Department. In any event, the headquarters' staffs of the bodies in question are relatively small in number.

There are no further plans for the decentralisation of the headquarters of State and semi-State Bodies under the aegis of my Department.

There are no State or semi-State bodies under the aegis of my Department.

There are no plans for the decentralisation of the headquarters of my Department or of the semi-State bodies under their aegis.

There are no plans for decentralisation of the headquarters of the State-sponsored bodies under the aegis of my Department. I should point out, however, that the majority of the State-sponsored bodies under the aegis of my Department are financial institutions and, therefore, it is desirable that they should be adjacent to the principal centre of commercial activity. In relation to these bodies I believe that decentralisation can best be achieved through the establishment of local branch offices where the level of business transacted would warrant it.

There are no semi-State bodies operating under the aegis of my Department.

I am advised that none of the State or semi-State bodies under the aegis of my Department, whose headquarters are at present in Dublin, have any plans for decentralisation at this stage.

The answer to the first part of the Deputy's question is "No"; the second and third parts of the question do not, therefore, arise.

There are at present no plans for the decentralisation of the headquarters of any State body under the aegis of my Department. I have no semi-State bodies under my control.

There are no State or semi-State bodies under the aegis of my Department.

The position in respect of the bodies under the aegis of my Department is that there are no plans for decentralisation of their headquarters.

The only such body under the aegis of my Department is Radio Telefís Éireann. I understand that they have no plans at present for the decentralisation of headquarters offices.
