Vol. 264 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Dublin Houses.

64.

asked the Minister for Local Government the current total number of housing applications in Dún Laoghaire Borough area and the Ballybrack electoral area of Dublin County Council; and the plans of the local authorities to provide further housing for applicants.

I am informed by Dún Laoghaire Corporation that they have a total of 513 approved housing applicants. They are completing work on the last 14 houses of a 142 house scheme at Ballybrack. They have received tenders for another 154 houses at Ballybrack and these are being examined. In addition, they have sites available for approximately 247 houses and are continuing their efforts to acquire other land in the area for housing purposes.

I understand from Dublin County Council that the total number of applicants regarded by them as qualified for rehousing in their designated housing area is 233. The council, in their overall programme, have 719 houses in progress, 171 at tender stage and 2,040 at planning stage. They also have acquired or are in process of acquiring sites for 7,331 dwellings. Included in this programme, in respect of the Ballybrack housing area, there are 27 dwellings at tender stage, 231 dwellings in planning, while sites are in process of acquisition in the area for about 600 dwellings.
