Vol. 264 No. 8

Written Answers. - Straying Horses.

90.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the promised improvement regarding the problem of straying horses in Dublin north-west has not occurred; and if he proposes taking any new measures in the matter.

It is a matter for Dublin Corporation to consider what steps are necessary and feasible to prevent animals from straying on to their property. I understand that the corporation have, in fact, made special arrangements to contain the problem, which is not an easy one.

The general question of measures to deal with straying animals does not come within the ambit of my Department's functions, but the question of the adequacy of the law relating to animals causing obstruction on roads will be considered in due course as part of a general review of roads legislation.
