Vol. 264 No. 8

Written Answers. - Noise Nuisance.

96.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that in Britain compensation will be paid to people whose lives and homes are affected by new roads and airports; if it is his intention to introduce similar legislation in this country at the same time as in Britain; and if sound insulation for existing homes suffering from excessive noise from new roads will likewise be provided in this country.

I have seen a recent press report that legislation on the lines referred to by the Deputy is under consideration in Britain. I do not at present contemplate the introduction of such legislation in this country.
