asked the Minister for Local Government if he will set up an independent appeal tribunal which will sit in administrative cities or towns at least twice in each year for the purpose of oral hearings, to deal effectively with planning appeals under the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963, from decisions of the local planning authority.

As I have already indicated, I have had the Local Government (Planning and Development) (No. 2) Bill, 1969, examined in the light of my experience and that of my Parliamentary Secretary in dealing with appeals. I hope shortly to be in a position to publish revised proposals for dealing, inter alia, with appeals under the Local Government (Planning and Development Act, 1963.
