Vol. 264 No. 8

Written Answers. - Public House Extension.

102.

asked the Minister for Local Government why he granted permission for the extension of a public house premises (name supplied) in view of the fact that Dublin County Council had refused permission because of traffic hazards at this dangerous road junction.

The development referred to by the Deputy consisted of a small extension to existing premises involving a total additional area of 495 square feet, including a net increase of 180 square feet in the bar area.

Planning permission for the development was refused by the Dublin County Council on 15th October, 1971, on the grounds that the plans did not provide for additional car parking facilities and that in consequence, the proposed development would create a traffic hazard.

The decision of the planning authority was appealed to me on 9th November, 1971. It was considered that the small extension involved would not generate any significant additional traffic and that refusal could not be justified. Accordingly, an order was made on the 18th January, 1972, granting permission for the development.
