asked the Minister for Health the number of accidental poisonings for the past year to the latest available date; and if he will give details of the substances most commonly implicated.

All poisonings do not necessarily come under official notice but I am informed that the Poisons Centre at Jervis Street Hospital received 2,558 telephone calls about cases of poisoning during 1972. This figure has been sub-divided by the centre under the following headings:
