Vol. 267 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

72.

asked the Ministter for Social Welfare if he will equate persons in receipt of disablement allowances from local authorities, who are living alone, with old age pensioners for free electricity allowance, et cetera.

The schemes of free electricity allowance and free television licence were devised primarily for old age pensioners who are living alone or with certain specified persons only. Disabled persons who are in receipt of old age pension and who satisfy the conditions may qualify for the free electricity allowance and the free television licence. Further extension of the scheme is not at present contemplated.
