Urgent consideration is being given to the question of national archives by an inter-Departmental committee. The legislative position is one of the matters being considered by the committee.
Would the Minister agree that the situation is far from satisfactory ?
I share the view expressed by the Deputy and I am glad he holds it because having regard to the inherited inactivity we found in this field——
On a point of explanation, it was not a question of inactivity. There were other difficulties as well, as the Minister will surely agree.
If the Deputy chooses to say so, I cannot stop him.
