Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Bus Service.

125.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will investigate the causes of the unsatisfactory bus service afforded to Dublin citizens; and if there is any likelihood of a sustained improvement in the present services.

The maintenance of adequate bus services in Dublin is the responsibility of CIE who continuously endeavour to provide at all times a reliable and regular bus service. CIE find the task increasingly difficult because of traffic conditions which are deteriorating. The magnitude of the problems and the cost of alleviating them were fully described in the report "Transportation in Dublin" prepared by Foras Forbartha and published in 1971. The question of implementing certain elements of that report is at present under consideration by the Government.
