The existing volume of hotel and guesthouse accommodation is considered adequate for the years immediately ahead and since mid-1969 Bord Fáilte have not been entering into new grant commitments in respect of hotel and guesthouse development. In the meantime, moneys voted for holiday accommodation have been used by Bord Fáilte to meet commitments entered into prior to 1969. The board informs me that at the commencement of 1972-73, eight of the outstanding grant commitments related to County Waterford; that these commitments are still outstanding and the grants cannot be paid until the approved works have been carried out to the satisfaction of the board and certified costs of projects have been received.
Bord Fáilte also indicate that during 1972-73 four written inquiries regarding holiday accommodation grants were received from County Waterford.
