A total of 25 students, engineering and architectural, were given temporary, (summer vocation), employment under excluding order. Engineering students are required to have completed the second year of their university course and architectural students the third year. The rate of pay is £20.18, under 21, and £20.39, over 21, for men and £18.36 for women.
In addition, a large number of industrial staff was employed mainly for arterial drainage seasonal work. All such recruitment is done locally through the National Manpower Service or employment exchanges.
