Vol. 268 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Meath Drainage.

16.

asked the Minister for Finance if the Office of Public Works will clean the extension of the Blackditch drain at Cloughbrack, Ballivor, County Meath, under the Boyne drainage scheme so that six farms (details supplied) may be drained.

Mr. Kenny

This matter has not been raised heretofore. It will be examined and a decision conveyed to the landowners concerned in due course.

A drainage operation was being carried out on a portion of this river and the people were informed that they were not going any further. Before the machines left, this question had to be raised. Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that this drain was actually pegged in the regional survey and the farmers thought it would be cleaned?

Mr. Kenny

The supplementary information I have here is that there is no record in the Office of Public Works of an application in the name of any of the persons named for an extension of the Boyne scheme in the Cloughbrack area. The Deputy is the first person to raise this matter and we will have it sympathetically considered.
