I cannot say, but the Commissioners of Public Works have furnished to the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries a report on proposals for improvements to the landing facilities at Belderrig pier.
Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that the Mayo County Council have received proposals from the Office of Public Works and have agreed to the necessary contribution and also the future maintenance?

I understand that there were six proposals but only two have been accepted.

There were six proposals but only two were forwarded to the Mayo County Council. The Office of Public Works have to get sanction from the Department of Finance. We must get sanction before starting the work. This will have to be expedited because, as the Deputy understands, under the new Bill the pier will pass out of his hands now.

Revised proposals for the improvement of Kilcummin pier have been received by the Commissioners of Public Works from the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for investigation and they hope to report upon them very shortly.
This pier has not passed from me. I am still very concerned about it.
