Vol. 269 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin School Management Boards.

27.

asked the Minister for Education when it is intended to establish a board of management at Ballinteer, County Dublin; and if he will explain the delay in establishing such a board.

The religious orders concerned have deferred nomination of their representatives on the board of management at this school until the model deed of trust for community schools has been finalised. As indicated in reply to a previous Parliamentary question, I hope to complete my examination of the deed of trust shortly.

Can the Minister give us any indication at this stage as to when the Deed of Trust will be completed?

Mr. R. Burke

As soon as possible.

That may mean anything. Can the Minister recall having given an answer which indicated that we would have had this long ago? The matter is very urgent.

Mr. R. Burke

As a former Minister, the Deputy will realise that I am not the only person involved in the negotiations.

Can the Minister say whether the role of others involved in this issue is more vital than the role of the Minister and will he not agree that this and other boards are stultified because of the non-availability of the deed and because there is no indication as to what it may contain?

The Deputy is indulging in argument.

Mr. R. Burke

The other people involved are legal people.

28.

asked the Minister for Education if he will indicate the composition of the board of management of the proposed new post-primary school in Skerries, County Dublin.

Mr. R. Burke

The management of the proposed new school in the Skerries area is a matter for agreement between the authorities of the existing three secondary schools which are to be replaced by the new school. My Department have arranged a meeting with these authorities to discuss this matter.

Is it the Minister's intention to indicate to the three authorities involved that the board should be set up with representatives of each authority on lines similar to those that have been taken in other areas?

Mr. R. Burke

This meeting with the Department is to take place on the 14th December and I do not wish to express any view in advance of it.

That is not an answer to the question. What I am asking the Minister is whether the authorities that are operating in the area have representation on this board of management?

Mr. R. Burke

Yes.

Mr. R. Burke

Yes.
