Vol. 270 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Milk Company.

172.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will make a statement on the future of the Condensed Milk Company in Limerick.

The future of the company's Lansdowne premises is closely bound up with negotiations which have been taking place between Limerick and Clare co-operative and milk producer interests as regards the provision of suitable processing facilities for milk supplies in the two counties. In any negotiations for the sale of the Lansdowne factory to co-operative interests provision will be made as in other such cases previously for safeguarding the employment of the factory workers.

I have been awaiting developments in the negotiations referred to and, if necessary, will meet the co-operative and producer interests concerned again in the near future.
