Vol. 270 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Wexford Speed Limits.

64.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reasons for the delay in sanctioning applications for speed limits in respect of a number of villages in County Wexford.

The speed limits in operation in a county are subject to statutory regulations made after periodic review, which takes account inter alia of all representations received for the imposition of new limits or the revision of existing ones. These county reviews are made on a rotational basis and the review for County Wexford is nearing completion. I expect to be in a position to make amending regulations in respect of that county in the near future. The Deputy might note that this procedure does not involve the issue of sanction to an application made by a road authority, which seems to be implied in his question.
