asked the Minister for the Public Service if he will establish Government offices in defined regions at which the public may obtain information regarding each Department of State as it affects such regions.

28.

asked the Minister for the Public Service if he will establish Government offices in defined regions which will carry out the work of each Department of State as it applies in such regions.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 27 and 28 together.

Sorry, a Cheann Comhairle. It is practically impossible to hear the Minister.

I would regard it as disorderly to endeavour to shout down the cries of the Opposition.

The Minister was on his own for the last ten seconds and he did not say a word we could understand.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take Question Nos. 27 and 28 together.

The Deputy's questions are related to the wider problem of the administrative arrangements for the discharge of the functions of Government at subnational levels. This wider question, which is difficult and complicated, is one of the matters I have instructed my new Department to examine in consultation with the other Departments concerned. The issues raised in these questions will be borne in mind in the course of this examination.
