Vol. 273 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish Meat Exporters Society.

6.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if any disagreements exist at present between his Department and the Irish Meat Exporters Society.

The Department and the society fully agree on the importance of the meat export trade and that it is in the national interest to co-operate in promoting its development on a sound basis and in working for the removal of any undesirable impediments to this. It is only natural however that particular situations arise on which both do not see eye to eye.

May I ask the Minister whether any part of this non-co-operation is resulting in our not being able to avail of much needed markets in third countries?

What is causing it?

The Department is open at all times for the fullest possible consultation and co-operation between the meat trade and the Department.

Question No. 7.

We cannot give it away at home.

Arising out of the Minister's reply——

No. 7, please.

Surely a second supplementary is permissible?

There have been six questions in 25 minutes and I am being accused of not being fair.
