asked the Minister for Health the number of prosecutions taken under the Food Hygiene Regulations, 1950, in a recent 12 month period.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Food Hygiene Regulations Prosecutions.
14.
The number of prosecutions arising out of breaches of the Food Hygiene Regulations in the calendar year 1973, as ascertained from the health boards, was 80.
Does the Minister consider that this is an adequate number of prosecutions in view of the complaints we read about in the media from time to time regarding the standards of Irish restaurants?
The health inspectors do their job.
Have we enough of them?
No, we have not. We are making efforts to try to get more health inspectors.
