Vol. 274 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Second Finance Bill.

44.

asked the Minister for Finance if he proposes to introduce a second Finance Bill within the calendar year.

A further Finance Bill to give effect to the Government's proposals on capital taxation is envisaged for later this year.

Has the Minister any proposals similar to those we saw recently in the United Kingdom?

No. The UK yesterday followed the example of my budget policy of this year.

Will there be an election in September?

Can the Minister state if there will be a mini-budget this year also?

That is a separate question.

Will there be an election in September?

The Deputy can enjoy his holidays.

A lot of Deputies on the Government side will not.

Can the Minister state if he intends introducing new taxation to provide the £9 million mentioned in the statement of the Minister for Local Government for housing? If the Minister does not intend doing that where will the money come from?

I should like to refer the Deputy to the statement which set out where the money was coming from.

It was an imaginary, illusory statement.

The money will come as a result of the engineers' strike.
