Vol. 275 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Monaghan School.

20.

asked the Minister for Education the improvements it is intended to have carried out to Knockatallow national school, County Monaghan; and when work will commence.

Mr. R. Burke

The question of amalgamating Knockatallon national school with Killycornan national school is being investigated at present. In the meantime my Department has asked the Commissioners of Public Works to advise the reverend manager as to what improvement works might be feasible at Knockatallon national school.

Would the Minister and his Department treat this as a matter of urgency?

Mr. R. Burke

The divisional inspector is having an investigation of the whole matter. We have recently had representations from a group of parents to indicate that the manager is now willing to carry out the repairs and the Office of Public Works have been asked to advise as regards what works would be feasible.

When does the Minister expect to have the report from the inspector?

Mr. R. Burke

I have no idea. I expect it will be as soon as possible. I take it they do not delay in making these things available to me.
