I have made no visits abroad since 31st March, 1974. I was, however, represented by the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Social Welfare at the Ninth Conference of European Ministers for Justice in Vienna on 30th and 31st May, 1974. The cost of his visit was £351.90.
Previous conferences in this series have been attended by my predecessors and are a very valuable forum for discussion of topics of interest to the Ministers concerned. The Ninth Conference discussed, among other things, legal aid, compensation for victims of criminal acts and practical measures in the prevention of delinquency.
