The up-to-date position in regard to the programme for the provision of welfare homes is that of the 48 approved for various centres, 16 have been completed and of these 12 are in use; the other four will be in use shortly. Eight homes are in course of construction and five are at tender stage.
The question of extending the programme further will be considered in the future and in this respect the experience in operating the existing homes will be reviewed.
