A total of 6,426 dwellings were begun or authorised in the second quarter of 1973-74, and the figure for the corresponding period in the current year is 6,564.

A total of 6,539 new local authority dwellings were completed in 1973-74 of which 2,329 were completed in the first five months of that year. Work commenced on 8,130 local authority dwellings during 1973-74. A total of 1,576 dwellings were completed in the first five months of the transitional financial period 1974 out of an estimated total of 7,250 dwellings to be completed in the 12 months ending 31st March, 1975.

asked the Minister for Local Government the average price of new houses for which loans were approved by local authorities in the first quarter of 1973 and in the first and second quarters of the transitional financial period 1974.
The average prices were £5,361, £7,058 and £7,094 respectively.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he considers that Government policy in relation to housing output is in need of review.
The answer is "no". Policy in relation to housing output is reviewed whenever the Government consider this necessary.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will outline the financial provisions made to facilitate the achievement of the Government housing target of 25,000 houses in the 12-month period from 1st April, 1974.
In replies to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 25 to 30 and 32 of the 10th July, 1974, and Nos. 12 and 13 of the 30th October, the Minister outlined the measures which the Government have taken to ensure an unprecedently high level of financial support for housing in order to facilitate the achievement of an output of 25,000 houses in the year ending 31st March, 1975.
