There were difficulties in acquiring a site for this school but I understand that one is now being made available. My Department have asked the Commissioners of Public Works for a report on its suitability.
Can the Minister indicate whether he is impressed by the special nature of the work being carried on at St. Ciaran's School?

Yes.
Therefore would he not consider it to be absolutely essential that this special work should not be carried on in a school that was built in the last century?

Yes. But I can inform the Deputy of an extract from a minute received on the 7th November from the Department of Health in which we were informed that a transfer of ownership of a site for a school from Dublin Corporation to the Eastern Health Board has been the subject of lengthy delay due to difficulty in reaching agreement on various aspects of the transfer. It states that agreement has yet to be reached but that the health board had informed the Department that the corporation had agreed that planning of the new school might proceed on the basis that the St. Canice's Road site would be made available.
Would the Minister be prepared to make a very special case and to do everything possible to remove what might be regarded as red tape or anything which would prevent the provision of this school as soon as is humanly possible?

Yes, the Commissioners of Public Works have been asked by us to inspect the site at an early date and to furnish a report to the Department on the site's suitability for use for a 12-classroom school.
