Vol. 276 No. 9

Written Answers. - Laois Medical Appointment.

81.

asked the Minister for Health the efforts he has made to have a doctor appointed to reside in the village of Castletown, County Laois; and when he expects to be in a position to make the appointment for this area.

The appointment of a general practitioner is a matter for the local health board.

Midland Health Board has advertised on a number of occasions for a general practitioner who would reside in Castletown but although candidates were recommended for the post none of them accepted the appointment. The board is in correspondence with a doctor at present but cannot yet say if he will take up duty.
