Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

53.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will sanction the extension of the sewerage scheme at Gortamullen, Kenmare, County Kerry to provide for additional houses being erected and in respect of which payment of grants are withheld pending construction of the sewer.

There are no proposals before my Department for such an extension at the present time.

54.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he will be in a position to sanction the tender for the extension of Millstreet sewerage scheme, County Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have sanctioned the acceptance of the two tenders involved in this case.

55.

asked the Minister for Local Government when his Department propose to give sanction to Mayo County Council to have Dooagh, Pollagh and Keel sewerage scheme released for contract.

I am not yet in a position to sanction this scheme, the contract documents for which are under consideration in my Department.

56.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will approve the contract documents for Portlaoise sewerage scheme which were submitted to him by Laois County Council on 27th May, 1974.

I have asked the local authority to reassess the merits of the method of sewage treatment proposed for this scheme, having regard to the high running costs involved.

57.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he will sanction the construction of the Clogh sewerage scheme, County Kilkenny.

The contract documents for this scheme are under consideration in my Department. I cannot indicate at this stage when a decision thereon may issue.

58.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the Farm Hill, Newtown group water scheme, Abbeyknockmoy, County Galway.

Galway County Council have been asked to arrange for the carrying out of quality and quantity tests on the proposed source to ascertain whether a satisfactory supply of potable water would be available to meet the group's full requirements. Until the results of the tests are received further progress is not possible.

59.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position concerning the extension of a public water supply to Lower Meevagh, Downings, County Donegal.

No proposals for such a scheme have been submitted to my Department.
