asked the Minister for Local Government the reduction that the Dublin City ratepayers may expect in 1975 as a result of a further transfer of health charges from local rates to central funds.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rates Reduction.
67.
The rate in the £ struck by Dublin Corporation for health purposes in 1975 is £1.61 less than it was in 1972-73. In addition the full amount of the increase in the cost of the health services since 1972-73 has been borne by the Exchequer.
Would the Minister agree that there are indications of an increase in the rate this year compared with the previous year?
I can tell the Deputy that the estimated saving to the ratepayer because of both the health and housing arrangements in Dublin is approximately £4 in the pound.
Would the Minister not go all the way and abolish rates on residential dwellings?
Fianna Fáil did not do that.
We shall.
I should love to see the day when we would not have to pay rates.
