It is not my intention at present to introduce legislation to give consumer organisations special powers to bring legal actions for false or misleading advertising. I have already announced that I hope to circulate before the Summer Recess a Bill on false or misleading advertising and this will be followed by a further Bill or Bills. Enforcement of consumer protection law will be carried out in accordance with the provisions made in, or in connection with, this legislation.
