Application for registration as a limited company under the Industrial and Provident Societies Act, 1893 has been made by a group of fishermen as a preliminary to their seeking recognition as a national producers' organisation from my Department as required under EEC rules. The establishment of such an organisation would enable the members to withdraw fish from the market when prices fall below a specified level and obtain financial compensation from the EEC for fish so withdrawn.
