Vol. 281 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Window Replacement Grants.

12.

asked the Minister for Local Government why a replacement grant for windows was refused to a person (name supplied) in Dublin.

Work in this case was commenced before the grant application was made and was completed when the inspector called. In the absence of any evidence that the existing windows were defective the inspector could not certify that the work was necessary and consequently could not allocate a grant.

I have been informed that the old windows are available for inspection. Could the Minister arrange for the inspector to call again? I am told that this was discussed with the inspector when he called recently.

As I told the Deputy personally a few days ago, I will arrange for an inspector to call if the old windows can be produced. My information is that the old windows had been removed before the inspector called.

I am satisfied that the windows are available.

I hope they will be. The information I have got is that they were not available but if the Deputy says they are I will arrange to have an inspector call again.

13.

asked the Minister for Local Government if grants for replacement windows are treated separately from reconstruction grants.

The answer is no.
