Vol. 281 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wandering Horses.

48.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of accidents involving wandering horses in the last year for which figures are available in respect of (a) the Dublin metropolitan area and (b) the rest of the country; and if he will list the figure for deaths and injuries separately.

The information in the form requested by the Deputy is not available to me. Published statistics of accidents involving animals do not distinguish between various species of animals nor do they provide a breakdown between the Dublin area and the rest of the country. It may assist the Deputy, however, to know that the latest figures available for 1973 show that there were 96 accidents involving animals, of which seven were fatal and 89 personal injury.
