Vol. 281 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Home Purchase Figures.

60.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the reason for the different purchase figures for council purchased houses in County Kerry in respect of groups of houses which were erected at the same time, as the prices being demanded by the council are extraordinarily high and bear no relation to the original cost.

As Deputies are aware, the revised sales terms for local authority houses which I introduced in July, 1973 provide that the sale price should be based on the original all-in-cost of the house converted to current monetary values less tenancy discount and allowances in lieu of grants and rates remission.

I am not aware that the sales scheme as operated by Kerry County Council has resulted in any extraordinarily high prices but if the Deputy brings any such specific case to my attention I will have the matter investigated.
