Vol. 281 No. 5

Written Answers. - County Cork Unemployment Assistance.

258.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will now arrange to have unemployment assistance or benefit paid to a person (name supplied) in County Cork.

A claim for unemployment benefit made by the person concerned on 7th April, 1975, was disallowed by a deciding officer for a period of six weeks under the provisions of section 17 (4) (a) of the Social Welfare Act, 1952, on the ground that he had voluntarily left his employment, without just cause. He was notified of his right of appeal against this decision, if dissatisfied. The claim has been allowed from 17th May, 1975, on the expiration of the period of disqualification. Payment of unemployment benefit and pay-related benefit due from that date was accordingly made on 23rd May, 1975. Further payments will continue as they fall due.
