The position in this matter derives from a decision made in 1970 to replace Killamoran and Kilmacduagh National Schools, both built before 1900, by a new central school at Tierneevin. A grant for the new school was sanctioned in 1971 and the building is now nearing completion. Some parents of children at Killamoran National School are opposed to the closing of that school and consideration is being given to their representation.
