At present developments in Bantry Harbour are a matter in the first instance for private interests. I have received applications from two such interests for permission under the Foreshore Act for facilities for construction of concrete oil production platforms in Bantry Bay. The applications are still under consideration.
A Bill providing for the establishment of a harbour authority for Bantry Bay was introduced recently.
