Mayo County Council included finance for a 27 house scheme at Kiltimagh in their claim last August for an increased capital allocation for local authority housing in the current year. Subsequently I allocated an additional £100,000 to the council, allowing them a total authorised expenditure of £502,000. It is a matter for the council to decide on the extent and timing of the schemes which will be undertaken in the current year within the authorised levels of expenditure.

asked the Minister for Local Government when sanction will be received by Ballina Urban District Council for permission to erect homes for the aged at Ballina, County Mayo; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I understand that revised plans for a scheme of 14 dwellings for elderly persons in Ballina have been submitted to the urban district council by the National Building Agency and are under consideration.
